You’ll be picked up at your hotel in Kigali to embark on a tour of Rwanda’s capital city.
We will first head to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where we’ll learn about the tragic story of the attempted extermination of the Tutsi population by the Hutu government in 1994. This horrific event has inspired numerous books and films, such as the award-winning feature film Hotel Rwanda, nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2004 Oscar Awards.
After learning about the history behind the memorial, the final resting place of more than 250,000 victims, we’ll visit Kimironko Market, the largest one in Kigali. Then, we’ll head to the Inema Art Center to admire the works of local artists.
The next stop on our tour of the Rwandan capital is in front of the iconic Inzora Rooftop Café and the Kigali Convention Centre, followed by a stop at Camp Kigali, where we’ll visit the memorial dedicated to the UN Blue Helmets. Ten members of these peacekeepers, all Belgian nationals, were killed by Hutu extremists during the genocide.
The tour will continue past the Kigali Arena, the largest stadium in East Africa, and the Niyo Arts Gallery. After visiting the Nyamirambo Women’s Center, you will have 30 minutes of free time for lunch in downtown Kigali. Our last stops of the day will be the Talking Through Art Gallery and the Caplaki Craft Village. From there we’ll return to your hotel in Kigali, where we’ll arrive after a total of 8 hours.
This is a private tour organized for you and your partner, friends or family.
