ITINERARY

Day One: Arrival at the Kigali International Airport

Karibu Rwanda. On this beautiful day, Arrive at the Kigali International Airport. After a briefing from our guide, you will head to your Kigali Hotel for check-in. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities. Overnight at your hotel.

Day Two: Kigali – Nyungwe National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Nyungwe National Park via Butare. Visit the Butare National Museum and also stop over for lunch en route. On arrival, get transferred to the lodge and check-in. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day Three: Chimpanzee Trekking & a Canopy Walk at Nyungwe National Park

Early morning breakfast and get a unique opportunity to take part in a Chimpanzee Trekking Activity. Nyungwe National Park is the largest block of montane forest in East and Central Africa and is an incredibly rich area of biodiversity. Engage in a Canopy walk experience and later return to the hotel for lunch and relaxation. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day Four: Nyungwe National Park – Kibuye

After a morning breakfast, engage in a nature walk activity and visit the Kamiranzovu Waterfall. Proceed to Kibuye. On arrival, check-in at the lodge and have lunch. Kibuye lies at the eastern tip of Lake Kivu and is often hailed as the most impressive scenic spot of the lake. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the lodge facilities. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day Five: Kibuye – Gisenyi

After a hearty morning breakfast, transfer to Gisenyi by boat for an Islands & Community Tour. Relax and take in the views of the Rwandan mountains from the hillside of Lake Kivu. Embark on a hike on Napoleon Island in search of fruit bats and velvet monkeys on a nearby island in Kibuye. Lunch will be served at Ruchel Lodge, an amazing hotel with a beautiful beach. Engage in a coffee farm tour and begin a short hike up a healing trail within the Lake Kivu coast and get entertained by local dancers. Later, enjoy a sunset boat ride. Arrive in Gisenyi in the evening and check in at the resort. Dinner and overnight at the resort.

Day Six: Gisenyi – Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Later, get a unique opportunity to take part in a Golden Monkey Tracking Activity at the Volcanoes National Park. Although the Golden Monkey Viewing is limited to a maximum of one hour, visitors are allowed to have magnificent views of the monkeys in their natural habitat. Adult monkeys frolic in plain view, feeding on bamboo leaves and leaping from perch to perch. Later, Visit the Karisoke Research Center now known as the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund. Dr. Fossey established the Karisoke Research Center in 1967 and began her ground-breaking research on gorilla behaviour. After a Wonderful Experience, head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day Seven: Gorilla Trekking at the Volcanoes National Park

After a sumptuous Morning Breakfast, get a unique opportunity to take part in a Gorilla Trekking activity. Searching for the gorillas may take two to five hours depending on where they were last spotted the previous day.  Once they have been spotted, you will be given one hour to take amazing photos of these magnificent primates. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. Head back to your hotel for lunch. Later, Visit the Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center and get a unique opportunity to join the local brew makers and learn about the process of brewing local beers from banana fruits. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day Eight: Volcanoes National Park – Akagera National Park

After an early morning breakfast, pick-up from your city hotel. Drive to the Akagera National Park located along the eastern border of Rwanda, where the typically hilly countryside gives way to the Great Rift Valley Savannah. Dominated by lakes, swamps and marshland, the area boasts a huge complement of nature and wildlife that cannot be found elsewhere in the country. Arrive at the lodge, check in and have lunch. Embark on a boat ride on Lake Ihema in search for Hippos and Nile Crocodiles. Later, set out for a night game drive at 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm and get an opportunity to view wildlife species previously not seen. Head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day Nine: Akagera National Park

After breakfast, experience a full day game drive that begins with a visit to the Giraffe Valley. The Akagera National Park is characterized by woodlands, swamps, mountains, and savannahs. Here, search for zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions, and various bird species such as the rare Shoebill Stork. Later, drive back to your lodge at around 4:00 p.m. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the lodge facilities. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day Ten: Bye Rwanda

After breakfast, depart for a 2 ½ hours’ drive to Kigali. On arrival, engage in a Kigali City Tour. Kigali city is surrounded by lush hills of green and is referred to as the land of a thousand hills. Visit the craft market, Gisozi genocide memorial site & Kigali museum. Have lunch and get transferred to the Kigali International Airport for your Flight Back Home.
